Biographical Information

George Stultz pitched only one game in the major leagues, throwing nine innings with no earned runs (two unearned runs) in 1894 when he was 21 years old. The year 1894 was famous as the peak year of a lively ball era, and the Boston Beaneaters team as a whole had an ERA of 5.41. Kid Nichols was the star of the team with 32 wins and a 4.75 ERA.

Years later, Stultz pitched in 1903 for the Montgomery Black Sox.

In 1955, the Braves wanted to find the oldest living "Brave" to throw out the first pitch in 1955. It turned out that Stultz was the oldest, but he could not be induced to leave Louisville. He was past the age of 80. As it turns out, he died in March.
