Biographical Information[edit]
George Quellich played 13 games for the Detroit Tigers in 1931, all in left field. The regular left fielder that year for the Tigers was John Stone, who was the team's strongest hitter. Quellich and Stone were the same age.
Quellich played 12 seasons in the minors with a .319 batting average. He spent parts of six seasons with Reading.
After his baseball career, George was a police officer in Oakland, California. He died in a car accident shortly after retiring from the force. In 2008 he was elected to the International League Hall of Fame.
He was born and died in Johnsville, CA, about an hour from Lake Tahoe.
