Biographical Information[edit]
Ivy Leaguer George Knothe came to the major leagues at age 34, years after his time at the University of Pennsylvania.
He was with Pueblo in 1928. In 1929 he was the regular shortstop on the 1929 Kansas City Blues, who won 111 games.
His brother Fritz Knothe came to the Philadelphia Phillies in 1933, the year after George was there. Both Fritz and George were famous as a result of their participation on the "Wonder Team", a top high school basketball team in Passaic, NJ which went years without losing a game.
