Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher George Freeberger was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 40th round of the 1992 amateur draft and played in their system in 1992 and 1993. He was signed by scout Jim Gilbert.

With the Bluefield Orioles in 1992, he hit .214/.283/.238 with nine hits in 14 games. He had passed balls (6) than RBI (2). He played for the GCL Orioles in 1993 and hit .133/.254/.150 with 20 strikeouts in 60 at-bats (26 games). He had as many RBI (4) as errors or passed balls. Overall, Freeberger hit .167/.265/.186 with 17 hits and 34 strikeouts in 45 games (102 at-bats). He had 13 runs, 6 RBI, 6 errors and 10 passed balls.

He died on July 22, 2002 at the age of 28.
