Biographical Information[edit]
George Eyrich pitched 9 games for the 1943 Philadelphia Blue Jays at age 18 with a pretty decent ERA of 3.38.
Eyrich was born and died in Pennsylvania. In addition to playing in the majors in 1943, he also appeared in two games for Toronto.
He was called into the service during the 1943 season and was in the U.S. Navy. He was in combat at the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Source: Baseball in Wartime.
After the war he pitched for years in the minors without coming back to the majors. In 1951 he was 18-11 with Omaha, where Ken Boyer, Wally Moon and Earl Weaver were teammates.
