George Dickinson
Biographical Information[edit]
George Dickinson played for Western Australia in the Claxton Shield from 1937-1939 and again from 1947-1952. He was named the event's Outstanding Player in 1950. He also appeared for Australia in 1947, 1948, 1950 and 1952. Over one 8-year period, he had a 0.82 ERA. He struck out 8.5 batters per 9 innings, went 38-14 and walked only one every five innings. A two-way threat, he also hit .341. While with the RAAF in World War II, he played against US service teams. In 2005, he was an initial inductee into the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame.
