Biographical Information[edit]

George Davies was the first major league player out of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which he attended in 1888-1891. He came to the majors in August 1891, in the waning days of the existence of the American Association, and went 7-5 with a 2.65 ERA. The next year he spent in the National League with an ERA of 2.59 but a record of 10-16 on a team that won 93 games. He finished out his career in 1893 with 8 more games.

Born in Wisconsin, he also died at age 38 in Wisconsin, having committed suicide.
