Biographical Information[edit]
George Baker was known both by his baseball name and his birth name George Boecke. After a brief baseball career, he worked in various capacities for the St. Louis Republic newspaper alongside two of his brothers, eventually becoming a stereotyper. He was a pallbearer at the funeral of former St. Louis Browns owner Chris Von der Ahe in 1913.
