Biographical Information[edit]
On August 3, 1918, Gene Packard, pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals allowed 12 runs but did not lose the game. The next pitcher to do that in the majors would be Scott Feldman in 2008.
Packard was a 20-game winner during both years of the Federal League and also won in double figures a couple of times in the National League.
In the minors, he pitched several years for the Columbus Senators of the American Association. In 1912, he went 24-8 for them.
Through 2016 he is the only major leaguer with the last name Packard.
