Biographical Information[edit]

Gene McAuliffe played one game for the 1904 Boston Beaneaters. He was already in his 30's at the time. On the day in question, Pat Carney wrenched his ankle during the game, and McAuliffe came in while a couple players moved around on the diamond to other positions. Although the minor league database does not list him as playing with the Lynn Shoemakers in 1904, he was mentioned in Sporting Life, August 7, 1904, as a star catcher for Lynn.

He was born and died in Randolph, MA, south of Boston.

Through 2020, the only other major leaguer with the same last name has been Dick McAuliffe.
