Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Gavin Stone was the penultimate selection of the 2020 amateur draft, which was shortened to just five rounds by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Los Angeles Dodgers took him from the University of Central Arkansas with the 159th pick of the draft, out of 160. His signing bonus was a little over $97,000, putting him below slot, but he made quick progress after starting his professional career when the minor leagues resumed play in 2021, reaching the major leagues in just two calendar years.

On June 26, 2024, he became the first Dodgers pitcher to pitch a complete game in two years, since Walker Buehler had also pitched a shutout in April of 2022. His 4-0 win over the Chicago White Sox also made him the youngest pitcher to throw one for the Dodgers since Clayton Kershaw in 2013.

Notable Achievements[edit]

  • NL Shutouts Leader (2024)
  • Won one World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024 (he did not play in the World Series)
