Gary Powers

Biographical Information[edit]

Gary Powers won over 900 games as a college coach.

Powers was an assistant at Nevada from 1972-1973 after graduating from there. He was head coach of Incline High School (1974-1977), Earl Wooster High School (1978-1981) and Shasta College (33-27 in 1982). He then returned to Nevada as head coach, going 937-762-5 before retiring in 2013. He was named the Big West Conference Coach of the Year in 1994, 1999 and 2000 and Western Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year in 2003. He coached Chris Singleton, Lyle Overbay, Chris Dickerson and Kevin Kouzmanoff among other major leaguers.
