Biographical Information[edit]
Gary Buckels was signed as a free agent out of Cal State Fullerton, and was in the minor league organization of the California Angels from 1987 through March 1992, when he was released. With the Quad City Angels in 1988, he went 14-3 with 6 saves. He caught on with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1993 and pitched in the majors for them in 1994, posting a 2.25 ERA in 10 games. His major league career was abruptly interrupted by the 1994 strike and he never returned to a big league mound. He became a minor league coach in 1997.
