Biographical Information[edit]

Gary Bennett played 13 seasons in the majors, never making more than $850,000 in any one major league season. A career-long backup catcher, he played for 8 different teams, with his career high being 96 games played for the San Diego Padres in 2003. After signing a one-year deal to caddy for Russell Martin with the Los Angeles Dodgers for 2008, his name was among those revealed in the Mitchell Report. He was one of the lone players to own up to his transgressions. His big league career ended that May, when he underwent surgery for plantar fasciitis.
