Frontier Conference
The Frontier Conference is an NAIA conference based mainly in Montana that has existed since 1934. The conference was founded as the Montana Small College Conference (1934-1936), then was known as the Montana Collegiate Conference (1936-1966) before adopting its current name.
The conference's baseball schools competed in the NAIA's District 5, until the schools all dropped baseball in the early-mid 1970s. The conference's champion was named the District 5 champion, along with the automatic berth in the Area 1 tournament from 1969 to 1973. In 1974-1975 any baseball school left were shifted to District 12 (Dakotas). Lewis-Clark State College was in the conference from 1998-1999 to 2019-2020, and competed as an independent in baseball. With the North Star Athletic Association closing after the 2024-2025 school year, the remaining five schools of that conference, which all sponsor baseball, and Bismarck State College, which is transitioning up from the junior college level, will all be joining the conference in 2025-2026, signaling that it may yet again sponsor baseball.
