Biographical Information[edit]

After serving as a U.S. Marine during World War II, catcher Fredrick Ballantine went to college on the GI bill. He played two years of minor league baseball. He hit .303/.367/.360 in 26 games for the Eau Claire Bears in 1950 and batted .282 with 24 doubles and a .382 slugging percentage in 114 games for the Leesburg Packers the next year. After baseball, he spent 40 years selling and distributing overhead cranes. He remained active in athletics, including coaching in Little League and the Babe Ruth League.
