Biographical Information[edit]
Fredda Thompson was a pitcher for the South Bend Blue Sox in 1947. She wore number 17 for the team and didn't stay in the league after the spring training exhibition tour in Havana, Cuba that year. However, she was still included in the permanent display dedicated to the players in the AAGPBL at the National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Cooperstown, NY in 1988.
She was a beauty queen outside of baseball and became Mrs. America later in 1947 after the original winner of the title had to turn it down due to her husband not approving of it.
Fredda's sister Viola Thompson also played in the AAGPBL from 1944 to 1947.
