Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Swanton managed the Santa Cruz Sand Crabs of the California League in 1909, leading them to a 62-36 record before the team disbanded, due to Swanton's retirement,[1] during the second half.
He was a notable businessman on the West Coast, one who helped transform Santa Cruz into a bustling beach resort city. He served as Mayor of Santa Cruz from 1927 to 1933. Swanton, CA is named after him.
