Biographical Information[edit]

Fred Stanley was a light-hitting middle infielder who played in the majors from 1969 to 1982. He made his debut with the Seattle Pilots in their only season, 1969, but the bulk of his career came with the New York Yankees. He was part of their World Series-winning teams in both 1977 and 1978, although he saw relatively little action those two seasons.

In 1989, he played for the St. Lucie Legends of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He batted .226 in 21 games. He was a coach for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1991 and then was the Farm Director of the Brewers from 1992 to 1996. Stanley was the San Francisco Giants' coordinator of minor league instruction in 2005-2007, and in 2008-2011 was the Director of Player Development.

Stanley missed the 1967 season due to military service.
