Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Fred Jacklitsch played thirteen years in the majors, many of them with the Philadelphia Phillies. However, the most at-bats he had in a season was 337, in 1914, with the Baltimore Terrapins in the Federal League.

Jacklitsch, who played almost all of his career in the dead-ball era, was good at drawing walks and had an on-base percentage that was more than 100 points higher than his batting average.

He was born and died in Brooklyn, NY, where he also played major league baseball in 1903 and 1904. He was coach of Rutgers University from 1926-1931. He umpired one National League game in 1901.
