Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Hayner was an 18-year-old who pitched one game in the big leagues on August 19, 1890. Sporting Life called him a local amateur. He pitched four innings for the Pittsburgh Alleghenys, a team which went 23-113 for the season. He pitched against the Chicago Colts.
Sporting Life continued to mention a Fred Hayner "of the News" in 1900, and in 1905 said he was sporting editor of the "Daily News" and was 33 years old, so presumably the same person.
