Frans Mäkel

Biographical Information[edit]

Frans Mäkel played for HCAW for two seasons in the Hoofdklasse. He later was on the Kinheim veterans team for the 1994 Men's Baseball Senior World Series. His nephew Fred Mäkel played in the Hoofdklasse and his son and daughter played softball in the Netherlands, as did his niece. He was on the board of the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation and the Amsterdam Pirates (treasurer from 2007-2012) and was knighted in 2017. He served on the Municipal Council of Uithoorn, Noord-Holland.
