Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Franklin Aballe made his Serie Nacional debut in 2005-06 at 17 years old for the Sabuesos de Holguin, with whom he remains through 2020. The light-hitting backstop frequently bats around the Mendoza Line, while averaging one home run once about every 65-70 at-bats. He is known for his defensive prowess, having paced the league in runners caught stealing. He was a Defensive All-Star in 2016-2017. He has also represented Cuba in a couple minor international tournaments. In the 2017 World Port Tournament, he was 0 for 5 as a backup backstop. In the 2018 Haarlem Baseball Week, he went 1 for 12 with two runs as the primary catcher for Cuba.
