Biographical Information[edit]

Frank San Martín debuted for the Matanzas Crocodilos in the 2012-2013 Cuban Serie Nacional, with a 7.71 ERA in 20 games; as a LOOGY, he faced only 33 batters in 9 1/3 IP. He remained an extreme LOOGY in 2013-2014 (13 2/3 IP in 34 G, 52 BF). He was 0-1 with a 1.98 ERA. He tied for third in the Cuban Serie Nacional in games pitched, two behind leader Carlos Juan Viera and one behind Yunieski García. He was awful in the postseason, though; facing 7 batters in 7 games, he allowed two walks, two hits and two hit batsmen while retiring one; he also threw a wild pitch but somehow escaped with only one run allowed as his following relievers fared better. In game 5, he entered in the bottom of the 9th with a 8-6 lead, the series tied at two, the bases loaded and one out. Replacing Yoelkis Cruz, the left-hander walked Lázaro Blanco to force in a run. Alexander Bustamante replaced him and gave up the game-tying sacrifice fly; Matanzas dropped the game and the series.
