Biographical Information[edit]

Frank Quilici was associated with the Minnesota Twins for over two decades. A light-hitting infielder, he played for the club in 1965 and from 1967 to 1970. In Game 1 of the 1965 World Series, against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he was the Twins' starting second baseman and got two hits, scored one run, and drove in one more. His best season was 1968, when he hit .245 and drove in 22 runs.

He joined the team's coaching staff in 1971 and replaced Bill Rigney as manager during the 1972 season. He was the youngest manager in the majors at the time, and four of his players were older than he was. He was the club's skipper through 1975, leading the team to three third-place finishes in the AL West during his tenure. Quilici was a radio broadcaster for the Twins from 1976 to 1977, 1980 to 1982, and again in 1987.
