Biographical Information

Frank Genins played three seasons in the majors. In the minors he played from 1887-1909, sometimes as a player-manager.

In May 1901 while playing with Omaha, Genins had an extremely rare "home run" from a strikeout. The catcher failed to catch the third strike when the ball hit the plate, bounced off the catcher's shoulder, and went out of play. The ump let Genins round the bases. A couple of weeks later in May 1901, Genins was part of a great comeback when his team (this time the 1901 Cleveland Blues) scored nine runs in the 9th. See Nine in the Ninth.

He was a manager in parts of three minor league seasons: with the Hutchinson Salt Packers in 1906, the Dubuque Dubs in 1907, and the Freeport Pretzels in 1909.

The July 2, 1892 issue of Sporting Life carried an article called The Genins Case, about a dispute about who owned Genins. Chris Von der Ahe was criticized in the article.
