The book The Fix Is In states that Fleet was named as part of an all-star team of "rogues" by the Brooklyn Eagle (along with such notables as Dickey Pearce and Davy Force).
He died within a couple weeks of Tom Patterson, his 1871 teammate on the 1871 New York Mutuals. Both died in New York, NY.
