Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Frank Croucher played eleven seasons in pro ball from 1934 to 1947. He also served three years (1943-1945) in the Us Army Air Corps during World War II. Croucher played four years in the American League, mostly as a shortstop. He was with the Detroit Tigers for three seasons (1939-1941) and made a brief appearance in the 1940 World Series. Croucher played for five years in the minors before the war and two years after. He hit .292 in 576 games in the minors. He died after suffering a heart attack while watching a Houston Astros game on television. He was a lifelong resident of the Houston area.
