Biographical information[edit]

Francisco Tejada is a former minor league baseball catcher who played from 1988 to 1992 in the Philadelphia Phillies farm system.

Signed as a free agent on September 3, 1987, Tejada began his professional career in 1988 with the Martinsville Phillies. For them he hit only .138 in 29 at-bats (16 games). He walked only four times and struck out 13 times. Despite having a poor season, noteworthy is the fact that two of his four hits were home runs.

In 1989, he played in only five games, all for Martinsville. He hit .500 in twelve at-bats. He spent 1990 with the Princeton Pirates, hitting .238 in 172 at-bats with them.

Tejada played for two different teams in 1991, the Clearwater Phillies and Spartanburg Phillies. He hit .500 in four at-bats with Clearwater, but with Spartanburg he hit only .206 in 97 at-bats.

1992 was Tejada's final season. He hit .187 in 91 at-bats with Spartanburg.

Overall, he hit .222 in 141 minor league games. In 405 at-bats, he hit eight home runs, drove in 55 RBI and struck out 113 times.
