Francisco Cruz was 0-2 with a 13.03 ERA for Nicaragua in the 1984 Amateur World Series, with 18 hits (5 homers) and 5 walks in 9 2/3 IP. He struck out none. He had Nicaragua's second-worst ERA. He still remained with them for the 1984 Olympics. He surfaced for the national team again almost a full decade later, giving up six hits (two homers), two walks and four runs in just two innings in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup, striking out two; he easily had the worst ERA for Nicaragua, more than triple any of his teammates. Cruz went 104-66 in the Nicaraguan amateur leagues, putting him 11th all-time in wins through 2008.
