Nicknamed "Shotgun", first baseman Francis Seastrand played four seasons of minor league baseball, including two summers in the Boston Braves organization, before serving in the Marines during the Korean War. He hit .224/?/.357 for the 1947 Owensboro Oilers and improved to .277/?/.415 with 26 doubles for Owensboro in 1948. In 1949, he batted .290 with 19 home runs and a .485 slugging percentage for the Wellsville Nitros. He was third in the PONY League in homers. He fell to .242/.339/.402 with 15 home runs for the 1950 Rome Colonels. He tied for third in the Canadian-American League in circuit clouts, four behind leader Garland Lawing. He also led league first basemen with 25 errors.

After his military service, he played one more year of minor league ball, batting .285 with a .435 slugging and 14 dingers for the Superior Blues. Overall, he had hit .269 and slugged .426 with 61 homers in 495 minor league games.

Seastrand was also a talented hockey player. After his sports career ended, he owned and operated a fence company.
