Biographical Information[edit]
Fraley Rogers, born in Brooklyn, NY in 1850, played for the Brooklyn Stars in 1869 and 1870. He made his National Association debut in 1872, becoming the regular right fielder for the Boston Red Stockings, who won the pennant with a 39-8 record. He came back for only a couple more games, in July, 1873 with the Red Stockings, going 4-for-11.
He died around the age of 31 in 1881 as a result of shooting himself in the head. The cause for this was reported that he had been suffering from malaria. His brother was umpire Mort Rogers.
