Biographical Information[edit]
Floyd Speer pitched 3 games for the Chicago White Sox during World War II. A baseball star in high school in Arkansas, his catcher was his twin brother named Vernie, also Floyd's middle name. Floyd began playing professional baseball in either 1938 or 1939 in the Cotton States League, was in the American Association in 1945-1946, and was with the Oakland Oaks beginning in 1947 when he went 11-8.
