Biographical Information[edit]

Florence "Fleury" Sullivan pitched one year in the majors as the # 1 pitcher for the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 1884.

His Sporting Life obituary in 1897 said that he had died of gunshot wounds fired during a dispute over politics. The article stated that Sullivan, with others, had formed the Nationals of East St. Louis in 1889. He later played several years as catcher for a newspaper team. He left the game after an injury to his throwing arm. The obituary did not mention his time in the majors.
