Federico Buchanan

From BR Bullpen

Federico Buchanan was a member of the first Panamanian national team, in the 1930 Central American Games. Playing both right field and pitcher, he hit .455/?/.636; among players with 10+ at-bats, only Mexico's Manuel Chávez and Francisco Torrijos had better averages. He had two putouts, one assist and no errors in the outfield and handled five assists error-free at pitcher. He was 1-0 despite a 7.20 ERA, getting the win with four shutout innings (2 H, 1 BB, 4 K) against Guatemala but toasted by champion Cuba for four runs in one inning. Panama would win the Bronze as a strong debut on the international stage.
