Root Sports Northwest
(Redirected from FSN Northwest)
Root Sports is the main television broadcaster of Seattle Mariners games. The network launched in 1987 as Northwest Cable Sports.
Beginning in 1993, Northwest Cable Sports broadcast M's games. In 1994, the station changed its name to Prime Sports and changed again to Fox Sports Northwest in on November 1, 1996. It became FSN Northwest in 2004. On April 1, 2011, the station was rebranded once again to Root Sports.
Since 1995, this station has split time covering Mariners baseball with local television stations KIRO TV 7 (1995-1999) and KSTW (2000-2007). Beginning in 2008, FSN Northwest gained an exclusive deal with the Seattle Mariners to broadcast every game that did not conflict with Major League Baseball's deal in which no local broadcast could begin until three hours after the Saturday Game of the Week started on national TV.
