Eye black
Eye black is a black substance rubbed under the eyes -- or affixed there as an adhesive strip -- to reduce the glare of the Sun. The first player credited with using an eye black precursor, mud, is Hall of Fame first baseman Johnny Mize. Bryce Harper is known for his extensive use of eye black.
