Evan Short
Evan Short
Biographical Information[edit]
Evan Short recognized that he was not good enough to play college baseball, so he got involved in a different way. He initially joined the University of California, Santa Barbara Gauchos as a student intern assisting with recruiting. Short served in this role during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He also started experimenting with statistics and data analysis which led to a promotion in August 2017 to serve as the UCSB baseball Director of Analytics. He stayed in this role through 2018 after graduating in 2017 with degrees in statistics and sociology. Short helped the Gauchos become one of the more analytically oriented programs in college baseball.
In 2019 Short moved into the professional baseball ranks when the Toronto Blue Jays hired him as a Player Development and Performance Analyst. In this role he worked with players and teams throughout Toronto's minor league system. Short remained in this job through 2020. In 2021, he took on a dual role as the Blue Jays' Pitching Skills Coach and Strategist as well as serving as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats development coach. Short returned to having just one job in 2022 serving as Toronto's Minor League Pitching Analyst.
