Etienne Albert Artsen (Camaro)

Etienne Artsen played in the Hoofdklasse.

Born in Aruba, he moved to Sint Maarten in 1960 and to the Netherlands in 1968. He served in the military then played for Quick Amersfoort in the Netherlands. He was primarily a center fielder but also caught and played first base. He was noted for his defense, speed and power and wore number 44 in honor of Hank Aaron. He played 10 seasons for Quick, including six seasons (1976-1981) in the Hoofdklasse. He played for the Netherlands in the 1976 Haarlem Baseball Week. He returned to Sint Maarten in 1982 and started an auto service company. He remained active in baseball with youth coaching and with the Sint Maarten National Baseball Federation, including a stint as treasurer. His son Serge Artsen and grandson Remian Denis both played in the Hoofdklasse as well.
