Biographical Information[edit]
Ernie Groth appeared in three games with the 1904 Cubs at age 19.
He went 9-8 for Columbus in 1906. There was talk that he might quit pro ball due to the death of his sister that year.
"Ernie Groth, the Wisconsin boy, has again declined to sign his Columbus contract which has been sent him regularly since 1906. Groth will stick to business at Port Washington." - Sporting Life, February 26, 1910
"Pitcher Ernest Groth, of Port Washington (Lake Shore League) shut out the Milwaukee Crows without a safe hit." - Sporting Life, July 9, 1910
He is apparently no relation to Ernest Groth.
