Biographical Information[edit]
Ernesto Molinet hit .419/.486/.548 with 11 runs in 8 games to help Cuba win the 2002 World Junior Championship; he fielded .986 at 1B. He tied for 10th with 13 hits. He was later the second baseman for La Habana. He hit .283 and slugged .433 in his first five seasons, through 2007-2008. In 2008-2009, his age-24 season, he hit .330/.461/.515 and tied Yoandy Garlobo for 8th in the league with 71 walks. In the playoffs that year, he hit two homers in an inning one game; it was not the first time the feat had been done in the Cuban postseason, though it had not yet been done in the MLB playoffs.
