Biographical Information[edit]

After attending St. John's University, pitcher Ernest Sowada played three seasons of minor league ball prior to World War II. He was 6-3 with a 3.62 ERA for the 1939 Crookston Pirates. He split 1940 between the Pirates (11-11, 3.44) and Minneapolis Millers (0-2). He ended his career on a rough note, going 4-18 for the 1941 Moline Plow Boys. He led the Three-I League in defeats. Overall, Sowada was 21-34 with an ERA around 3.74 in his 71 minor league games. He hit .198.

After serving in the Navy during the war, he went on to become a physician.
