Biographical Information

A nephew of Joey Amalfitano, Erik Morrison was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 49th round of the 2007 amateur draft but did not sign. He was then taken by the Texas Rangers in the 46th round of the 2008 amateur draft and began his pro career that year. He spent the majority of 2009 with the Hickory Crawdads, for whom he hit 18 home runs, and was with the Bakersfield Blaze in 2010, clubbing 13 homers.
