Biographical Information[edit]
Eric Cerantola has won Silver with the Canadian national team.
Cerantola was picked in the 8th round of the 2016 Ontario Hockey League draft by the Owen Sound Attack. [1] In baseball, he represented Canada in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup. He was 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA, taking the hard loss against #1 USA. [2] The Tampa Bay Rays took him in the 30th round of the 2018 amateur draft but he did not sign.
Opting for college, he was 3-0 with a 4.30 ERA at Mississippi in 2019, fanning 21 in 14 2/3 IP though he walked 11. That summer, he was 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA for the Amsterdam Mohawks, with 22 K to 8 BB in 12 IP. He also played for Canada in the 2019 Pan American Games, one of three collegians on the team (alongside Ben Abram and Edouard Julien). He was the only one of Canada's 12 pitchers who did not get into a game as they took the Silver Medal. [3]
Eric started 2020 1-1, 3.18 in four starts with 22 K in 17 IP before the COVID-19 pandemic ended the college season early.
