Biographical Information[edit]

Emmitt Johnson played in the minor leagues from 1937 to 1942 and in 1946, spending most of his career in the Bi-State League. His best two seasons were in 1939 and 1940, with the Leaksville-Draper-Spray Triplets. In 1939, he hit .311 with 139 hits and 11 triples in 112 games and in 1940, he hit .352 with 168 hits and 45 doubles in 119 games. He tied Harry Daughtry and Clyde Vollmer for the BSL lead in doubles. Never a slugger, he averaged one home run about every 316 at-bats for his career.
