Biographical Information[edit]

Emmett Rogers played 35 games for the 1890 Toledo Maumees. While he only hit .173, the regular catcher, Harry Sage, hit .149. Emmett played over a decade in the minors.

He had an entrepreneurial spirit - in the winter of 1894-95, he flooded the Scranton ballpark and used it as a skating rink. It was said he made money on the venture.

This site [1] has a biography of Rogers. He played amateur ball before he was in pro ball. The site also contains quotes from various newspapers as well as a brief obituary.

He became a minor league owner following his playing days, owning among perhaps other teams, the Beeville Bees.[2]
