Biographical Information[edit]

Emilio García was a Cuban amateur star of the 1930s, noted for his hitting and speed. His .559 average for Deportivo de Cárdenas in 1932 is the Cuban amateur record. He also hit .413 for the 1934 Hershey Sports Club to help them to the pennant, while claiming his second batting championship. For the Cuban national team in the 1935 Central American and Caribbean Games, he hit .359 to help them take the Gold. He coached baseball at the Instituto Edison after his playing career ended, then coached and taught physical education.
