Biographical Information[edit]
Elvis Rodriguez came to the United States from the Dominican Republic at age 18 to attend college. He played baseball for two years at Western Oklahoma State College before moving to Faulkner University to complete a degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections (2014). Rodriguez played baseball for one year at Faulkner. From 2015-2018 Rodriguez earned a second bachelors degree in Sports Communication from Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo.
According to his LinkedIn page, Rodriguez has worked at a number of baseball related jobs throughout his career. These include clubhouse assistant positions with the Gigantes del Cibao in 2009 and the Bradenton Marauders in 2018. During his U.S. college career he also worked as a hitting coach for Valdez Baseball. After returning from his studies in the Dominican, Rodriguez coached at the college level for Bunker Hill Community College during the 2018-2019 seasons. He left this job to co-found the Swing Factory training facility where he also served as Director of Player Development. In 2021 he added one more piece to his experience by serving as a hitting coach for the Lynn English High School Bulldogs.
The Houston Astros hired Rodriguez in September, 2021. He joined the Corpus Christi Hooks that month for the final two weeks of their season followed by coaching in the fall instructional sessions. Rodriguez was the hitting coach for the DSL Astros Orange in 2022 and DSL Astros Blue in 2023. Moving to the St. Louis Cardinals' chain, he was hitting coach of the Peoria Chiefs in 2024.
