Elvin Orozco is in his 4th minor league season in 2009.

Orozco signed with the New York Yankees at age 17. He made his pro debut with the 2006 DSL Yankees 2, going 6-0 with a save and a 4.60 ERA and fanning 43 in 31 1/3 IP. He split 2007 between the DSL Yankees 2 (1-0, 1.23, 21 K in 14 2/3 IP) and the DSL Yankees 1 (2-1, Sv, 0.82). Overall, he held opponents to a .196 average.

In 2008, Orozco spent yet another year in the Dominican Summer League despite his success in '07; he went 5-1 with a save and a 3.83 ERA and struck out 46 while walking 8 in 42 1/3 IP.

He pitched for Nicaragua in the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, the youngest player on the team. In his first game, he was uncharacteristically wild, with 5 walks in 5 2/3 IP against Venezuela but he allowed only one run (unearned). His next outing, he whiffed nine Colombians and allowed two hits and one run in 6 2/3 IP for the win. In his third start, he surrendered six hits and three runs in 4 1/3 IP against the Puerto Rican national team, which won the tournament. Overall, he had gone 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA to help Nicaragua get a spot in the 2009 Baseball World Cup.

In the summer of 2009, Orozco still did not came stateside. With the DSL Yankees 2, he went 4-0 with a save and a 2.08 ERA and struck out 42 in 39 innings. He was now 18-2 with a 2.69 ERA in four seasons in the Dominican Summer League.

Orozco is on Nicaragua's team for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
