Biographical Information[edit]

Speedy outfielder Ellerton Maynard was a singles hitter who hit .256 with a slugging percentage of .325 in his six minor-league seasons. His on-base percentage was fairly decent at .347 - but if he had gotten on base more, he could have utilized his top weapon, his speed, to even greater advantage. Maynard stole 331 bases as a pro, including 80 in the California League in 1990 and 87 more in 1991 (when he was promoted to the Double-A Southern League for part of the year).

A 17th-round pick of the Seattle Mariners in the 1987 amateur draft, Maynard made it to Triple-A in the M's chain for nine games in 1993. He hit just .216 at three levels that year, though, and that was his last year in the minors.

Maynard then returned home to St. Croix, where he remained active in baseball through his job with the Parks and Recreation department. As of 2012, he was baseball coach for Educational Complex on the island.

Whereas Maynard's height and weight are listed as 5'10" and 170 lbs. on his BR Minors page, nearly all of his baseball cards show 5'8" and 160 lbs (one showed 5'9" and one more 5'10").
